So, it is indeed a sad time. The one bright side is that they seem to be playing more GG reruns. Never a bad thing.

Things I loved about Bea's character, Dorothy:
1. The fact that they always made fun of her gruff voice/height/general tranny-ness, and as an actress, she was okay with that.
2. Her sarcasm.
3. Her slouchy boots.
4. Her biting one-liners.
5. Her mother/daughter dialogue with Sophia.
6. Her ever-changing but always ugly hair.
7. Her absolutely amazingly-bad wardrobe, often consisting of oversized mu-mus in drab colors.

But seriously, this woman was hilarious. She is by far my favorite one of the girls on the show. What I find so interesting is that, after reading about her death, I found out that she, in fact, was almost the complete opposite of her character in real life. She wasn't confident and secure, she was shy and often didn't want to participate in interviews, etc., and kept her private life private. In fact, her costars didn't even know how sick she was.

The Golden Girls is, indeed, a weird thing for a 20-something female to be obsessed with, but I am guilty as charged. After watching some interviews and hearing different things, I actually learned that a large part of their fanbase is young people. If you watch the show, I doubt you'll second-guess it. It makes sense - their humor is a little to crude for old people (who you might think would like the show), and just witty enough for younger generations. Seriously people, they talk about sex like every episode.

So, if you haven't checked out the show, you should. They play it on the Hallmark channel and WE. Go. Watch. Laugh.

home life

john mayer is pissing me off lately.

now, i know, just because he's a celebrity doesn't mean he's inhuman and doesn't make relationship mistakes. a fine point. but it's just that the 'him' that's in his songs and the 'him' that runs around serial dating the famous women of hollywood and then publicly embarrassing them...it's contradictory. the next argument - what somebody writes in their songs isn't necessarily what they believe, yadda yadda. bullshit. especially with him. for instance, his song 'home life'. if you haven't heard it, here's some of the lyrics:

think i'm gonna stay home
have myself a home life
sittin in the slow-mo
listening to the daylight
i am not a nomad
i am not a rocket man
i was born a house cat
by the slight of my mother's hand

i want to live in the center of a circle
i want to live on the side of a square
i used to be in my M-Z now
you'll never find me cuz my name isn't there
home life
been holdin' out for the home life
my whole life

i wanna see the end game
i wanna learn her last name
finish on a friday
and sit in traffic on the highway
see i refuse to believe
that my life's gonna be
just some string of incompletes
never to lead me to anything
remotely close to a home life

been holdin out for the home life
my whole life

if you still think this isn't about HIM, he also has tattooed 'home life' on his arms. my point is that he's being awful contradictory lately. it isn't a crime. everyone has their ideals and usually it takes a while for us to live up to them. but what bothers me is that it's impacting his music - or lack thereof. he hasn't had a seriously new release (i don't really count live albums, although they are fabulous) since 2006. i haven't found it worth going to see him on tour since then. i've seen him 3 times, and he is amazing. but it's just so much more enticing when he has new music to offer. i just feel like he's distracted. and who am i to deduce that, really...but i'm a fan, and a loyal one. i've been to his concerts, his soundchecks, read his blog, bought every album including the live ones. i love his music. but lately all i hear about him is his slimeball romantic moves. how is he ever going to have a home life with somebody like jennifer love hewiit or jessica simpson? i gotta say i'm on team aniston though.

hey, if this eventually inspires him to write better...i suppose it's not all in vain. but occasionally it bothers me to see someone so talented and privileged, who has gotten opportunities to play with the best, and has seriously loyal fans...screw around and act like he doesn't care. i know he does. and i know he deserves his privacy just like everyone else. but as a fan, i just wish he'd make some new music already.

here we go again

ever since i was like 13, i keep trying to have a blog that is somewhat entertaining. but until now i really wasn't that interesting. not that i am now...but i feel like i've refined my BSing to the point of perhaps being witty. i'm convinced that what college is for, anyway.
